Haro Alarm Clock - Mr. Pink - Gundam Seed - Lacus Clyne

Hello again, sorry it's been a few months since my last post. There hasn't been any real new things to talk about, although I should take the time to go back through my collection at some point. Today I'm here to talk about the Haro alarm clock that arrived a few days ago. One thing of interest (for me at least) this was my first time purchasing something through Amazon which turned out great. Before I go on, I only just realised the other day when redesigning the blog that my background looks rubbish on any screen running a resolution as low as 1280x720 as I work on a 1920x1080 screen and made sure the blog looked good on that. What I'm referring to is that the background has all the sides cut off when running on 720p which kind of causes it to lose it's charm as you can't even see the main feature of it. (My dad who uses 1280x800 resolution was saying the blog doesn't look very good....) I'm going to look into ways I could use the background and replace it with a similar one so it looks good on a smaller resolution. For now, all the edges will be cut off if you view it on a resolution any lower than 1080p. Anyway, let's get onto why we're all here.
To begin with, something I was pleased to see is that the clock takes 2 AA batteries which means I don't have to go out and buy some obscure battery that they only produce in another country or some such. Another great thing was that the clock came with batteries as well, with the blister pack specifically designed to hold 2 AA batteries which was very considerate of them. My Japanese isn't that great yet so I just had to press and hold buttons until I worked out what they did. Eventually without too much effort I got the clock set to the right time and the alarm set. I did have to look up what AM and PM were in Japanese. The only thing I'd say that annoys me is that I haven't found anyway to set the alarm to be at a different time depending on the day, oh well I guess I'll just have to have a regular sleeping pattern then.
Haro sits on top of the clock and as far as I can tell isn't detachable however it can swivel from left to right so you could have Haro facing a different to the clock. The clock itself has a light in it which can be activated for a few seconds by pressing the button on the back. Haro him/her self is pretty cool. I ended up getting the Pink one because of Lacus Clyne from Gundam Seed rather than the other one which was Green which says Amuro which I'm not as attached to as a character or series. I'm not saying the original Gundam was bad but, in comparison I found Gundam Seed a lot better. Although admittedly it has a fair few flaws but, I can look past them pretty easily. The pink Haro says a few things when the alarm goes off, the only word I've really been able to tell is that it says Lacus. There's a button you can press to activate alarm mode if you want to listen to it.
The alarm itself goes off every 4-5 minutes or so after you set it and I'm not really sure how long it'll do this. One day it probably did it 3 times however this morning it felt like it kept going off half an hour later. And yesterday, I slept right through the alarm so I'm not too sure how well I can rely on it. That being said, I'd say I'm a pretty heavy sleeper compared to most people so if you're light sleeper I don't think there'd be any problems using Haro as an alarm.
The best part about the Haro part is that it has a little solar panel on the back, like those calculators and that powers Haro's wings. The wings flap a little, nothing major but, it's nice having it flap away in the room. Adds a little charm to it. On closer inspection you can see the seam lines of Haro on either side of it. However, you don't really notice it unless you're looking out for it. The paint job is fine, it's a very shiny pink and looks just right. Underneath the wings you can see little hands although I don't remember Seed Haros having hands.
In the end it's a very cute addition to my collection and I'm glad to have it. I'd recommend getting it off Amazon like I did as it's about $20 cheaper there even after postage compared to the eBay listings I looked at. On second though, I may have purchased the last pink one at that price, in that case the price of the pink one is about the same on both sites however I think the green one is still available cheaper. I hope you enjoyed this post and found it informative. I should really go and make a list of all the words Haro says. If there's any questions you have about Haro or anything else on my blog or anything in general don't hesitate to comment. I've been slow replying to comments in the past but I'm really going to focus on replying to anyone as soon as I can now.

Kira Yamato G.E.M. Megahouse

Sadly, I didn't buy any figures at Supanova however, this did turn up in the post yesterday!
I have waited so many years for a proper figure of Kira Yamato! Of all the people to make a figure of from Gundam Seed/Destiny, he should have been first on the list. They made multiple figures of Lacus, Cagalli, Athrun, Stella, Lunamaria, Flay etc (NO ONE even liked Stella or Flay) Yet Kira Yamato remained lost, that is until the 21st April when finally Megahouse released a figure of him and it arrived my door step. This may not be the most stunning figure I have laid eyes on however, it is still a well crafted work of art. The tone of his skin is quite nice. I'm used to figures being quite pale unless a bootleg so having a bit of a tan in a figure is somewhat refreshing. He comes with two faces, one serious, one happier. He also has two hands. The hand in the above picture can swivel around which can give off different impressions. Birdy is also included. Twice actually, as there is a second hand with Birdy permanently attached to it and Birdy by itself. The separate Birdy and Kira's right shoulder are magnetic so it is easy to place and remove Birdy from the shoulder easily without there having to be a peg there to hold it in place. I was quite excited to find this as I have not encountered another figure which uses such a technique and in my opinion it is quite useful. The other hand with Birdy on has Kira's hand flat out with Birdy sitting in the palm of it. Overall the figure is well painted and nicely sculpted. The base to me feels a little average however there is nothing particularly bad about it, just nothing stunning either. It has the name Kira Yamato in front of his feet as well as O.M.N.I. and it's logo in the middle. I've noticed a disturbing lack of people ordering this on Myfigurecollection so I urge people to order this quickly if it's still available in stores. Send a message to Megahouse that it's okay to make male figures, especially of ones who are the main character in a popular anime series. I'm so glad to have a figure of one my favourite characters from one of my all time favourite shows. I feel as though I can rest easy now, knowing that I own such a figure.
As usual, here is a slide show of Kira Yamato. There are photos showing both faces and the different hands in different rotations etc. There are also photos of the box.

Supanova Gold Coast 2013 April 20th

Okay! Here it is, the Supanova Gold Coast post!

Getting there.

Where to begin. I guess I should just start describing the day. First of all, my friends were an hour later picking me up than they said they would. hahahaha stopped in at Mcdonalds for breakfast and got the southern bbq sauce on my muffin instead of the normal. (ewwwww) Then the rest of the journey there was rather long and uneventful.

Arriving

Getting closer to the place we ran into a stop start traffic and there were a lot of road works going on as preparations were being made to build a tram line for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2018.
We got there about 9:45, 15 minutes before it officially started and they opened the doors. Luckily there was plenty of parking left for us. We got inside the doors after being lead around aimlessly by the Supanova staff for a while. I guess it was pretty much the same as usual. Stores of anime and other geeky stuff, there was the whole 'art gallery' section, people in costumes such as Asuna from Sword Art Online (didn't get any pictures though :(

Seeing stuff....

Unfortunately for me, there wasn't really any figures I was that interested in this time and if I was interested in them they weren't interesting enough for the prices being asked. But anyway, I ended up buying the 2nd half of the second season of K-on!! with the box on Blu Ray from the Madman store even though I guess I could have got it cheaper elsewhere (ended up leaving it in my friends car...) and I purchased a hard cover art book of Spirited Away. (which has some pretty interesting stuff!) This has made me want to collect more of the Studio Ghibli art books.

My nephew would have died if he saw this.

We went to the Madman theater to pass sometime before going to see the the Cosplay competition. My friends had a good laugh seeing Bakemonogatari due to the fact we had watched it already a few years ago. And my other friend and I had a good laugh at the dubbing of Infinite Stratos and also how the main guy for some crazy reason hated the fact that all the girls wanted to be with him.

Then we went to the Cosplay competition. It was brought to the audiences attention that the host had said fantastic a lot last year (something I somehow missed) and then all the different people came on. I had my parents camera this year armed with the Telephoto lens so I was able to get some real good shots of the cosplayers this time! Unfortunately my friends got bored of it halfway through and I ended up leaving with them. So I didn't get to see all the participants. Sadly, there weren't any really cute girls dressed up this time. At least the part of the competition that I saw. There also weren't many cosplays of characters I liked. There was however Char! Although he had forgot his mask.

Leaving

Anyway, didn't get any awesome pictures of celebrities and I this year unlike last time. To be honest, the celebrities there was mostly boring really. Wasn't that great a selection of them. Anyway, time to go. The place was closing and it was time for some more fun.

Dreamworld

We also went to the After Dark Dreamworld event they had on and got to see the view on the Giant Drop at night and we also saw the first 10 minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness that was being previewed at the Dreamworld Cinema. I must admit that the first 10 minutes had restored my faith in the movie a bit. I didn't think the trailers were that great and was disappointed after the first one was so good. I'll definitely look forward to seeing this one when it comes out. The view from the Giant Drop was awesome, all the lights were so pretty. Unfortunately I didn't bring the camera into Dreamworld so there's no pics of that. It was pretty cool seeing Anime cosplays in Dreamworld. That is something I'd like to see more of, not just at Dreamworld but everywhere!

Well that's about it. Besides the part where my friend bumped into the car in front of us (I still think he drives a manual better than I do) nothing spectacular happened on the way home. And like usual, here's a slide show!

Supanova! Gold Coast

Going to Supanova (Yes, it's spelled/spelt that way) on the Gold Coast this weekend!
Hope to get some cool pics of it up. Sorry I didn't get anything up before, that week turned out busier than I expected. Saber Golden Caliburn and Kira Yamato G.E.M. just got paid for recently so I'll hopefully post something about them when they get here.

Lacus RAH DX G.A. Neo

Here's the photos of Lacus I said I'd upload. Took my time as usual but better late than never.
"Thank you for bringing mister Pink back to me."
You can see here the 2nd arm that comes with her on the right. She also comes with a couple of hands for the right arm so she can hold the flower. There are also two Haros, one with its wings out and the other with the wings in. Here face is interchangeable, one face with the huge smile, the other with a slight smile Her head also swivels around so you can have her looking in different directions.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Athrun Zala G.E.M. Megahouse Gundam Seed Destiny HD Remaster Project

Just arrived today! Athrun Zala G.E.M. Series from Megehouse. SOOO COOL. Gundam Seed/Destiny are some of my favourite series so I'm really excited to get this. Much nicer quality than the original RAHDX figure of him. Tracking said it was going to be delivered today so I waited around for hours and the delivery man didn't arrive until 1. Turned out his van broke down and had to be repaired. Anyway, I had to start work at 2 so I didn't have enough time to take outside shots but, I'll get around to them tomorrow I think. For now I'll show you a few pictures I took when opening him up for the first time.

His head actually has a ball point joint in the neck so his head can swivel around which is pretty awesome. His hand on the arm reaching out can rotate around so if you want him to be holding the Haro you can. Two haros come with this figure, both the same colour but one has it's little 'wing's spread out and has a mustache drawn on his face (like the one Lacus draws in the show) and the other one has no mustache and it's 'wings' in. There are also two faces that you can put on Athrun. One is a more serious one but the other one has him smiling a little which is nice. The Base is somewhat basic but well done. At first in the pictures I thought he looked a little different than the show but since I've got him I think this figure was done really well. It's great to have another male figure in the collection. Too few of them I reckon.
This is the first pre order figure ever (That I didn't cancel) and it came from Amiami. Also the first time I've purchased from them so that was all pretty exciting as well. I've got Lacus pre ordered (She was supposed to come out with Athrun but got delayed until the end of November :( but yeah I'm pretty excited to get her and I'm REALLY excited for the Kira Yamato figure coming out next year. I can't wait to finally have a proper figurine of Kira in my collection. Up until now I've only had the I-doll one which was pretty basic. About time they made a figure of him! This lacus will be my Sixth figure of her. I have the 2 RAHDX of her, the large and small I-doll and the ball point doll of her. So yeah, overall I'm really excited to get them.
Here's a slide show of some of the other pictures I took (shipping box, figure box, figure inserts etc.)
You can see his serious face in this picture as well.

Asuka Sunlight Photo Gallery

Here's some more photos of my Asuka Loppi figure. I took them outside so they turned out a lot nicer this time.

Luka Pics!

Here are the pics for Luka I promised.
Overall there isn't really anything bad to point out about this figure. There weren't any issues with the quality and as far as looks go it's up to the individual to decide.
The pose makes this figure pretty cool to look at and the size makes it stand out nicely.
I love the transparency in the hair on this figure.
Her mic is actually separate to the rest of the figure so you can put something else there if you like.
The record base.
And a slide show

Luka Megurine - Max Factory

The sun wasn't out today but I took a couple of photos. I take more photos on the next sunny day! For now I'll just say that I can't see any real flaws with this figure and I love the hair!

In my first review I did say I was going to include pictures of the boxes. You can find a few here in the slide show.

Rita Mordio - Alter - Tales of Vesperia

She arrived last Friday from Mandarake. I decided to try out DHL postage this time rather than EMS and it seems as though DHL is the way to go. About a day faster then the usual EMS and postage turns out pretty cheap!

Overall she's an awesome figure! If you like the game or the character then don't hesitate to get this. The detail, the paint and everything is really well done. There's nothing I can really complain about with this figure. There's also something about the skin colour they chose for the face on this figure that also works nicely. The best way to describe it is that it's more 'soft' than my other figures. I was really impressed with how well her eyes stand out too. The awesome greeny/teal colour in them looks really nice. If you're looking for figures with a great base then you'll love this. Alter put a lot of work into making the base look like a stone floor from an ancient city. It comes with all the cracks and dirt showing up as you'd expect. It really fits with the overall feel of the game. In fact, the whole figure itself matches the feel of Rita from the game. It's as if she just sprung out of the screen.

As usual here's a slide show of her. If you haven't worked it out yet you can view the pictures in a larger format if you click on the slideshow. As it was a nice (albeit hot) sunny day today I decided to take the photos outside. They seem to have turned out a lot nicer than usual with the natural light. There's also some close ups on her so you can see all the detail.

I also had no idea that the Tales of Vesperia figures from Alter were accompanied by a little caricature figure of the person as well. Needless to say, this turned out to be an awesome surprise when I opened the box!
Her head swivels too!

Stay tuned for Megurine Luka Tony Ver. by Max Factory! She should arrive by Tuesday.

Asuka Lawson Loppi Ver.

Along with Asuka Pajama Baby, I also got the Asuka Loppi Ver. by Lawson/Kotobukiya! Gotta say that this is one awesome figure! There's just something so unique about her compared to the other figures I've seen.
I've got a bunch of pics of this. Some with flash most without. I probably should have just taken this pictures when there was more light. Anyway, enjoy!

If you get the chance, don't hesitate to buy her!

Asuka Pajama Baby!

Just got my Asuka Pajama Baby White Version last Friday!
Here's a slide show for you all!

Pretty cute overall and I'm glad I got her. From the pictures I definitely prefer the white over the pink version as well. Great figure if you can get her cheap like me!

Stay tuned for Asuka Loppi!

Yui & Mugi Live Stage Nendoroids! K-on!

I received these in the mail last week and thought I should post some photos for everyone. This now completes my K-on! Live Stage set collection.

This time I actually noticed the little card board floor boards that come with the stage sets (they're made so that you have to tear them out from part of the packaging found inside the box) and decided to try them out. You can probably see in some of the photos that they don't sit down complete but they fit in pretty well overall. The only thing with the floor boards is that you can't plug any of the little accessory bits into the stage. Not a big deal though.

Like I said in my earlier post the getting Yui to stand up is pretty annoying. In the end I just kind of let her lean back on her little stand. Mugi on the other hand was much better. Recommend this to any K-on/Nendoroid fan!
Really like this photo. I think it's the lighting, shadows etc. Something about it is just nice.

Athrun Zala I-Doll Gundam Seed

This is my latest acquisition in the figure collecting world! The figure is part of a series which is called I-Doll.
He's Athrun Zala, one of the main characters from Gundam Seed/Destiny
No Flash
Flash

This figure even has a speaker in its base which can play lines he says from the show! Unfortunately he only comes with two lines. :( Pretty lame, some of my others come with a few more. Overally, he's probably the best that I've got so far in terms of quality. The sculpting and paint job are done pretty well so there's not much to really complain about apart from the lack of lines. I'd probably give him a 9/10 overall. He's a lot more refined than the Kira I-Doll. Too bad too cause that's about the only 'decent' figure of Kira Yamato and they didn't even bother to put much effort into him. ;(

So far the others in the 'small' I-Doll line I have are Meyrin, Shinn, Lacus, Kira and I also have the large one of Lacus who has 10 lines from the show! I'm currently awaiting Yzac, Stella, Cagalli and Lunamaria in the mail which should arrive within the next week. Which just leaves the small and large Meer Campbell and the large Lunamaria to acquire!

Other figures I'm awaiting in the mail are Asuka Loppi Lawson and Asuka Pajama Baby and I've got a few others on preorder.

I'll be sure to post photos of them when they arrive!

Last week I received the Yui/Mugi half of the nendoroid stage set which I'll probably post some photos up soon enough. They're really cute! The only thing I can really complain about is how hard it is to get Yui to stand. The support that comes with her is pretty useless. Mio, Mugi, and Ritsu were much easier to set up.

That's all for now. Until next time!
