Hurrah!
I just solved the background issue, so whether you're viewing it on a small laptop screen or a large desktop screen the blog should look pretty good now. Although my mums iPad isn't displaying the background properly as the background stays at the top and all that's left at the bottom is white but, I'm calling it fixed for now. :)

Haro Alarm Clock - Mr. Pink - Gundam Seed - Lacus Clyne
Hello again, sorry it's been a few
months since my last post. There hasn't been any real new things to
talk about, although I should take the time to go back through my
collection at some point. Today I'm here to talk about the Haro alarm
clock that arrived a few days ago. One thing of interest (for me at
least) this was my first time purchasing something through Amazon
which turned out great. Before I go on, I only just realised the
other day when redesigning the blog that my background looks rubbish
on any screen running a resolution as low as 1280x720 as I work on a
1920x1080 screen and made sure the blog looked good on that. What I'm
referring to is that the background has all the sides cut off when
running on 720p which kind of causes it to lose it's charm as you
can't even see the main feature of it. (My dad who uses 1280x800
resolution was saying the blog doesn't look very good....) I'm going
to look into ways I could use the background and replace it with a
similar one so it looks good on a smaller resolution. For now, all
the edges will be cut off if you view it on a resolution any lower
than 1080p. Anyway, let's get onto why we're all here.
To begin with, something I was pleased
to see is that the clock takes 2 AA batteries which means I don't
have to go out and buy some obscure battery that they only produce in
another country or some such. Another great thing was that the clock
came with batteries as well, with the blister pack specifically
designed to hold 2 AA batteries which was very considerate of them.
My Japanese isn't that great yet so I just had to press and hold
buttons until I worked out what they did. Eventually without too much
effort I got the clock set to the right time and the alarm set. I did
have to look up what AM and PM were in Japanese. The only thing I'd
say that annoys me is that I haven't found anyway to set the alarm to
be at a different time depending on the day, oh well I guess I'll
just have to have a regular sleeping pattern then.
Haro sits on top of the clock and as
far as I can tell isn't detachable however it can swivel from left to
right so you could have Haro facing a different to the clock. The
clock itself has a light in it which can be activated for a few
seconds by pressing the button on the back. Haro him/her self is
pretty cool. I ended up getting the Pink one because of Lacus Clyne
from Gundam Seed rather than the other one which was Green which says
Amuro which I'm not as attached to as a character or series. I'm not
saying the original Gundam was bad but, in comparison I found Gundam
Seed a lot better. Although admittedly it has a fair few flaws but, I
can look past them pretty easily. The pink Haro says a few things
when the alarm goes off, the only word I've really been able to tell
is that it says Lacus. There's a button you can press to activate
alarm mode if you want to listen to it.
The alarm itself goes off every 4-5
minutes or so after you set it and I'm not really sure how long it'll
do this. One day it probably did it 3 times however this morning it
felt like it kept going off half an hour later. And yesterday, I
slept right through the alarm so I'm not too sure how well I can rely
on it. That being said, I'd say I'm a pretty heavy sleeper compared
to most people so if you're light sleeper I don't think there'd be
any problems using Haro as an alarm.
The best part about the Haro part is
that it has a little solar panel on the back, like those calculators
and that powers Haro's wings. The wings flap a little, nothing major
but, it's nice having it flap away in the room. Adds a little charm
to it. On closer inspection you can see the seam lines of Haro on
either side of it. However, you don't really notice it unless you're
looking out for it. The paint job is fine, it's a very shiny pink and
looks just right. Underneath the wings you can see little hands
although I don't remember Seed Haros having hands.
In the end it's a very cute addition to
my collection and I'm glad to have it. I'd recommend getting it off
Amazon like I did as it's about $20 cheaper there even after postage
compared to the eBay listings I looked at. On second though, I may
have purchased the last pink one at that price, in that case the
price of the pink one is about the same on both sites however I think
the green one is still available cheaper. I hope you enjoyed this
post and found it informative. I should really go and make a list of
all the words Haro says. If there's any questions you have about Haro
or anything else on my blog or anything in general don't hesitate to
comment. I've been slow replying to comments in the past but I'm
really going to focus on replying to anyone as soon as I can now.

Saber Lily Golden Caliburn Rerelease
Saber arrived the other day and I've finally been able to get around to writing this. After waiting since August and a number of delays since December she's finally here.
Well there's not much to say about it's quality except that overall it's very good. The quality control on her is very good, the paint job is great, the sculpting is great. You get the usual tiny rugged bits which are only noticeable on over inspection. I must admit there is a slight black mark just to the right of her left eye on her nose. However, again this is only noticeable when looking very close at her, it's not visible normally and only when zoomed in on the picture above.
I find I like her sheath more than the Distant Avalon version and her sword as well. The detail in the markings on them are very nice. While I would describe Distant Avalon with the armoured dress with words such as epic and amazing, I find that the difference in the clothes makes this figure more beautiful. I also find the red and white colours in the base to be very nice as well.
I don't know if it's just because it's a new figure but, I'm inclined to say that I find this figure more appealing than Distant Avalon. One thing that should be noted is that the hand which holds the sheath has a hole in the palm of it where a lug on the sheath pushes in to keep it there. This hand does not have an interchangeable normal hand like Distant Avalon. While the hole is small it may annoy some more particular people when wanting to display her without the sheath.
Oh, and I should probably let you know that the end of the hilt on the sword can be temporarily removed so that the hilt can be slid through the grip of her hand easily. That's something that took me a few years to learn with Distant Avalon after forcing it in.

Kira Yamato G.E.M. Megahouse
Sadly, I didn't buy any figures at Supanova however, this did turn up in the post yesterday!
I have waited so many years for a proper figure of Kira Yamato! Of all the people to make a figure of from Gundam Seed/Destiny, he should have been first on the list. They made multiple figures of Lacus, Cagalli, Athrun, Stella, Lunamaria, Flay etc (NO ONE even liked Stella or Flay) Yet Kira Yamato remained lost, that is until the 21st April when finally Megahouse released a figure of him and it arrived my door step. This may not be the most stunning figure I have laid eyes on however, it is still a well crafted work of art. The tone of his skin is quite nice. I'm used to figures being quite pale unless a bootleg so having a bit of a tan in a figure is somewhat refreshing. He comes with two faces, one serious, one happier. He also has two hands. The hand in the above picture can swivel around which can give off different impressions. Birdy is also included. Twice actually, as there is a second hand with Birdy permanently attached to it and Birdy by itself. The separate Birdy and Kira's right shoulder are magnetic so it is easy to place and remove Birdy from the shoulder easily without there having to be a peg there to hold it in place. I was quite excited to find this as I have not encountered another figure which uses such a technique and in my opinion it is quite useful. The other hand with Birdy on has Kira's hand flat out with Birdy sitting in the palm of it. Overall the figure is well painted and nicely sculpted. The base to me feels a little average however there is nothing particularly bad about it, just nothing stunning either. It has the name Kira Yamato in front of his feet as well as O.M.N.I. and it's logo in the middle. I've noticed a disturbing lack of people ordering this on Myfigurecollection so I urge people to order this quickly if it's still available in stores. Send a message to Megahouse that it's okay to make male figures, especially of ones who are the main character in a popular anime series. I'm so glad to have a figure of one my favourite characters from one of my all time favourite shows. I feel as though I can rest easy now, knowing that I own such a figure.

Supanova Gold Coast 2013 April 20th
Okay! Here it is, the Supanova Gold Coast post!
Getting there.
Where to begin. I guess I should just start describing the day. First of all, my friends were an hour later picking me up than they said they would. hahahaha stopped in at Mcdonalds for breakfast and got the southern bbq sauce on my muffin instead of the normal. (ewwwww) Then the rest of the journey there was rather long and uneventful.
Arriving
Getting closer to the place we ran into a stop start traffic and there were a lot of road works going on as preparations were being made to build a tram line for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2018.
We got there about 9:45, 15 minutes before it officially started and they opened the doors. Luckily there was plenty of parking left for us. We got inside the doors after being lead around aimlessly by the Supanova staff for a while. I guess it was pretty much the same as usual. Stores of anime and other geeky stuff, there was the whole 'art gallery' section, people in costumes such as Asuna from Sword Art Online (didn't get any pictures though :(
Seeing stuff....
Unfortunately for me, there wasn't really any figures I was that interested in this time and if I was interested in them they weren't interesting enough for the prices being asked. But anyway, I ended up buying the 2nd half of the second season of K-on!! with the box on Blu Ray from the Madman store even though I guess I could have got it cheaper elsewhere (ended up leaving it in my friends car...) and I purchased a hard cover art book of Spirited Away. (which has some pretty interesting stuff!) This has made me want to collect more of the Studio Ghibli art books.
We went to the Madman theater to pass sometime before going to see the the Cosplay competition. My friends had a good laugh seeing Bakemonogatari due to the fact we had watched it already a few years ago. And my other friend and I had a good laugh at the dubbing of Infinite Stratos and also how the main guy for some crazy reason hated the fact that all the girls wanted to be with him.
Then we went to the Cosplay competition. It was brought to the audiences attention that the host had said fantastic a lot last year (something I somehow missed) and then all the different people came on. I had my parents camera this year armed with the Telephoto lens so I was able to get some real good shots of the cosplayers this time! Unfortunately my friends got bored of it halfway through and I ended up leaving with them. So I didn't get to see all the participants. Sadly, there weren't any really cute girls dressed up this time. At least the part of the competition that I saw. There also weren't many cosplays of characters I liked. There was however Char! Although he had forgot his mask.
Leaving
Anyway, didn't get any awesome pictures of celebrities and I this year unlike last time. To be honest, the celebrities there was mostly boring really. Wasn't that great a selection of them. Anyway, time to go. The place was closing and it was time for some more fun.
Dreamworld
We also went to the After Dark Dreamworld event they had on and got to see the view on the Giant Drop at night and we also saw the first 10 minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness that was being previewed at the Dreamworld Cinema. I must admit that the first 10 minutes had restored my faith in the movie a bit. I didn't think the trailers were that great and was disappointed after the first one was so good. I'll definitely look forward to seeing this one when it comes out. The view from the Giant Drop was awesome, all the lights were so pretty. Unfortunately I didn't bring the camera into Dreamworld so there's no pics of that. It was pretty cool seeing Anime cosplays in Dreamworld. That is something I'd like to see more of, not just at Dreamworld but everywhere!
Well that's about it. Besides the part where my friend bumped into the car in front of us (I still think he drives a manual better than I do) nothing spectacular happened on the way home. And like usual, here's a slide show!

My nephew would have died if he saw this.

Supanova! Gold Coast
Going to Supanova (Yes, it's spelled/spelt that way) on the Gold Coast this weekend!
Hope to get some cool pics of it up. Sorry I didn't get anything up before, that week turned out busier than I expected. Saber Golden Caliburn and Kira Yamato G.E.M. just got paid for recently so I'll hopefully post something about them when they get here.

Ooooo, just noticed that it's been over three months since my last post. Been very busy during this time. I've got a lot of free time this week so I'll try to get up a couple of posts. :)
